Desktop App
The Desktop App shows your workspace on macOS and Windows. A small character on your screen shows what your coding agent does now. On macOS, widgets show one resource or one coding account each.
Install
vibemon.io/download shows these steps for your device.
macOS
VibeMon runs on Macs with Apple silicon. Install it with Homebrew:
brew install opspresso/tap/vibemon
Homebrew puts VibeMon in Applications. After that, VibeMon checks for updates itself.
If Homebrew is not installed, download the .dmg file from Releases instead. Open it, drag VibeMon to Applications, and open VibeMon from there. You do not need to install Homebrew only for VibeMon.
Windows
VibeMon runs on 64-bit Windows (x64).
- On Releases, download
VibeMon-Setup-<version>.exeunder Assets. - Run the file. If Windows shows a warning about an unknown publisher, select More info, then Run anyway.
Open the App
Open the installed App. It starts in the menu bar on macOS and in the system tray on Windows; look in the tray's hidden icons if needed. Select its icon, then Dashboard. Installing the App does not yet install a coding-tool integration or a remote-server collector.
Connect your account
- In the menu bar or tray menu, select Dashboard.
- Open Settings → Connections and select Sign in with VibeMon.
- In the browser, sign in and select Allow.
- In Overview, select Customize view, choose what to show, and select Save view.
After connecting, compare one card with the Web dashboard. The same VibeMon sign-in should show the same reporting source; allow a 30-second refresh. If no source has reported, complete source setup first.
The connection above reads cloud data. To monitor coding tools on this computer too, install their integrations and connect Send activity to Web as described below. Selecting which cards to show does not configure collection. Desktop view choices are saved on this computer and are separate from the browser's choices.
If you already have a read token, open Use a read token instead in Settings → Connections, enter it with the Web address and select Save and connect. Use https://vibemon.io, without /dashboard or /api. Prefer the sign-in button for a new connection.
Show coding activity
The character shows the state of your coding session, such as thinking, working, or waiting for input. The speech bubble shows the project, the model, and the plan usage.
To install the monitoring script from the App, see Install from the Desktop App.
- To move the character, drag it.
- To show it again after you close it, select Show companion in the menu.
- To change the character, the size, or the speech bubble, open Settings → Companion.
Local activity needs the integration and the running coding tool, but does not require a Web login. To watch it from another computer or iPhone, also connect Settings → Integrations → Send activity to Web and confirm the card on Web. An installed Desktop App is not required on a remote server running a collector.
Add a macOS widget
You need macOS 14 or later.
- Start VibeMon. The widgets show the data that the App receives.
- Control-click the desktop and select Edit Widgets.
- Search for VibeMon, then add Resource or Coding Agent.
- Control-click the widget, select Edit "Resource" or Edit "Coding Agent", and choose the item to show.
Read the menu
A red dot on the menu icon shows that something needs you. The menu item with the dot tells you where to look:
| Menu item | What to do |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | A resource or a coding account needs attention. |
| Settings… | The connection failed. Sign in again in Connections. |
| Integrations… | A monitoring script needs a repair or an update. |
| About VibeMon | An App update is available. |
Update
The App checks for updates when it starts and every 4 hours.
- Open About VibeMon and select Check for updates.
- Select Download update, then Restart and install.
On Windows, if the update does not finish, download the new VibeMon-Setup from Releases and run it. On macOS with Homebrew, you can also run brew upgrade vibemon.
Disconnect cloud viewing
To disconnect cloud viewing without uninstalling, use Settings → Connections → Disconnect this device. This clears the local connection and attempts to delete its read token on Web. If the App cannot reach Web, delete that token in Account & tokens. Hook delivery is a separate connection.
Remove the App
- Quit VibeMon from the menu.
- Remove the App:
- macOS: run
brew uninstall --cask vibemon, or move VibeMon from Applications to the Trash. - Windows: open Settings → Apps, then uninstall VibeMon.
- macOS: run
- Delete its token in Account & tokens.
The monitoring scripts stay. To remove them, see Update or remove.
